Dario Escobar

Dario Escobar (b. 1971 Guatemala City, Guatemala). His works take everyday objects such as footballs, roller skates and baseball bats and turn them into useless but highly aesthetical pieces. Selected solo exhibitions include Josee Bienvenu Gallery in New York (2008); La Línea Interrumpida at Galería KBK in Mexico City and Centro Cultural Metropolitano (CCM) in Guatemala City, Guatemala (2007); Dario Escobar: Trabajo Reciente at Galería La Fabrica in Guatemala City, Guatemala (2007); and Dario Escobar/Project Room at Rotunda Gallery in Brooklyn (2007). Selected group exhibitions include Elefante Negro at Museo Diego Rivera in Mexico City (2008); Silence & Echo at Arena 1 in Santa Monica, California (2007); The Hours: Visual Arts in Contemporary Latin America at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney (2007); and Poetcis of the Handmade at MOCA in Los Angeles (2007). Dario Escobar lives and works in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
